Six days left.
That strange week where time moves too fast and not at all.
Some teams are at home right now, sharpening runners, checking necklines, walking leaders in the quiet evening light or under the Northern Lights — everything focused on one thing: Amundsen.
Others are already out racing, chasing kilometers at other races before turning their focus to Amundsen Race. Different schedules, same destination: Strömsund.
Last year, this was the week it all became real.
The boxes were packed. The bags are labeled. The final training runs are done. Trails marked. All preparations rolled out in one final stretch.
Gift bags were prepared, the media team talked about the strategy for the year and many other behind the scenes tasks were finalized.
AR180. AR250. AR350.
Different distances, different plans — but the same moment when the sled moves and the noise in your head disappears.
If you stood on that start line in 2025, you remember it.
The excitement. The “are we ready?” moments.
The breath of the dogs. Their anticipation when leaning into their harnesses.
The weight of the first meters.
The relief when it all settles into rhythm.
Then Silence. Just you, your dogs and the trail ahead.
The stress disappears and the focus locks in.
Six days left.
Wherever you are right now — racing somewhere else or counting down at home — we’ll meet on the same trail soon enough.
Be ready for the warm nods at checkpoints or hugs when needed, the quiet efficiency around the race, that “we’ve got you” feeling from the people behind the race — the kind of atmosphere Amundsen is known for.
Your names are printed, the BIBs are ready to be put on, GPS is updated, media strategy set....no questions left where everyone involved is meant to be.
Now it’s six days again.
Same nerves. Same excitement. Same reason we keep coming back.
Follow along here and on the race channels, live streams — and keep an eye on amundsenrace.com for updates as we roll into race week.
See you at the line.

Throwback Thursday – The Ones Behind the Trail
Before a single sled leaves the start line…
Before the first dog barks in excitement….
Before the countdown begins…..
someone has already been out there for countless hours.
Our deepest thanks again go to the local snowmobile clubs who prepare, secure and maintain the Amundsen Race trails.
From early trail packing to marking, from supporting the start area to keeping crossings and sections safe during the race — they are the quiet backbone of the race and their work makes everything possible.
Most of the time, you won’t see them in the photos.
But every musher feels their work beneath the runners.
The trail doesn’t prepare itself.
It takes commitment, experience and local knowledge.
To every supporting scooter club, volunteer rider and Edmond —
thank you for keeping the Amundsen trail safe and ready year after year.
Thank you for carrying the trail. We couldn’t do this without you.
photo: footage from yesterday: Edmond and snowmovers out on the trail. It is so much faster to make trails with two snowmovers – we are very grateful that we could borrow that extra 1 from snowmover yesterday. Thank You! 🤍🐺

The Amundsen Race wouldn’t be what it is without the support of local businesses who choose to get involved and help make things work after all.
💚 Second Chance Osteopati – Hund & Häst (Peggy de Kraa): working closely with dogs and horses and based here in the region, your support brings valuable care and understanding to a race where the dogs wellbeing is always at the center.
💚 Coop Strömsund: based right here in Strömsund, thank you for supporting the race and helping us take care of teams, dogs and people during some very busy days.
Local support like this really matters. If you are in Strömsund and need something, coop is open 8am to 10pm every day.

Team Dog Partners
We’re incredibly grateful to have committed partners standing behind the Amundsen Race — people and companies who help make sure both teams and dogs are well taken care of.
💛 AXAECO— as our main equipment sponsor, your long-term support gives the race a solid foundation. Having reliable partners who believe in what we do makes a huge difference, season after season.
Dear friends of Amundsen Race, if you are looking for sled dog equipment or active dogs equipment make sure to pay Axaeco a visit. Discover their kits and get everything you need for you and you your dog/s.
💛 IBEX-Trade — thank you for supporting the race with straw for the dogs year after year and for always being involved in a very hands-on way: help at the start and running Checkpoint Norråker. It’s one of those practical things that really matters out on the trail, and we truly appreciate it and you Erik as a person.
💛 e-Component Sweden AB — being locally rooted and choosing to support the race means a lot to us. Thank you for backing the mushers, the dogs and the wider community around the event.
To all our Team Dog Partners: thank you for choosing to support the race and the people — and dogs — that make it possible. We couldn’t do this without you.

Fjällsikten.
When we talk about what makes the Amundsen Race special, it’s not just the trail or the teams - it’s the people and places that truly bring it to life.
Up on Fjällsikten Tåsjöberget, a lot of work happens long before the race. Trails are created weeks in advance, the checkpoint rigged, food prepared and the banquet meal planned: all so teams, supporters, and visitors can feel welcome and focused on what matters. This isn’t just support, it’s the kind of effort that creates real atmosphere and lasting memories.
This past autumn, Fjällsikten entered a new chapter with new owners — the same people who have been running Doro Camp since 2009 and have turned it into a successful concept built around well-organized travel packages and fantastic food. We wish them every success going forward and sincerely hope that Fjällsikten can remain the home base of the Amundsen Race during the weekend of week 8 for many years to come.
Fjällsikten isn’t just a checkpoint or a finish line. It’s a place to slow down, enjoy a warm meal, get close to the teams, feel the buzz of the race, talk dogs with (new) friends and truly be part of the adventure. That hands-on involvement, from trail work to food and hospitality, is what makes Fjällsikten feel like coming home during the Amundsen Race.
And for anyone wondering what the ownership change means on the ground this 14. Amundsen Race: you won’t have to miss any of the familiar and friendly faces. Lovely Manu with her warm smile is still there. Also you might still get a chance to high-five with Anders Jonsson as he will, just like in past years, make long hours together with Edmond to prepare the trails around the mountain and have fun doing so. (Some traditions are worth protecting).
A heartfelt thank you to Manu and the entire Fjällsikten team for the long hours, the open doors, and the genuine care you put into welcoming everyone!
Come to Fjällsikten and be a part of Amundsen Race 2026. 🤍🐺

The Amundsen Race is shaped by the places it moves through — and Strömsunds kommun is very much part of that story.
With its open landscapes, real winter, and strong outdoor culture, Strömsund offers exactly the kind of environment this race is built for. It’s a place that deserves attention not only during race days, but as a winter destination in its own right.
We hope the race can help bring more people to the area, create value for local businesses, and show what’s possible here when winter is embraced rather than avoided.
We believe the best partnerships grow over time, eye to eye, with shared goals and benefits on both sides. We’re grateful for the support we have and look forward to developing this collaboration further — for the race, the community and everyone involved.
📍Come and be with us for the start of Amundsen Race 2026 Feb 19 at Strömsunds wonderful Hembygdsgård. Talk to mushers at thr stake out, admire the dogs and ask all the questions you have until everyone goes into focus zone to prepare for the start. 🐺

nutrition for endurance. Royal Canin.
Strong dogs are built over time, through care, knowledge and the right support behind the scenes.
In the Amundsen Race, our teams face long distances and tough conditions, which makes partners like Royal Canin especially important. Their long-term commitment to canine health and endurance fits naturally with a sport where preparation matters just as much as race day.
Royal Canin supports mushers and dogs throughout the season — not just during the race — and that kind of dedication makes a real difference. See the second slide (story/highlight) to see what RC offers for mushers at their new Sleddog Program.
Let`s meet during the Amundsen Race, Feb 19 - 22. Start: Hembygdsgård Strönsund - Finish: Fjällsikten Tåsjöberget

Powered by precision. Driven by endurance. engcon.
We’re really proud — and genuinely thankful — to have engcon supporting the Amundsen Race year after year. Long races like this are built on trust and having partners who show up consistently makes a real difference.
Out on the trail, dog sledding is all about control, teamwork and making the right moves when conditions are rough. That mindset fits perfectly with what engcon stands for: smart thinking, reliable performance and solutions you can count on when it matters.
And if you’re ever looking for a reliable partner for your own projects: t’s always a good idea to support the companies that support the race. 😎
Thank you, engcon, for backing the teams, the adventure and the drive to keep moving forward.
