What it’s like to photograph a 350km dogsled race

Last weekend I photographed a long-distance dogsled race here in northern Sweden.

From the quiet opening ceremony with candlelight in the church, to the intensity at the checkpoints and finish line, it was a weekend filled with long hours, little sleep, and powerful moments between mushers and their dogs.
In this video I share what it looked like from my perspective — both on the trail and back home while going through the images. Winter photography, endurance, partnership, and life in the north.

My name is Guy, and I am a nature photographer from The Netherlands, moved to Sweden in 2024. Life in northern Sweden with my dog, my Land Rover, and a camera — chasing wild moments and the calm of nature Join me for hikes, wildlife encounters, and quiet moments in the Swedish wilderness
