The Amundsen Mid Scandinavian Sled Dog Race 2025 starts on Friday for the 13th time. Bert Kelchdermans and Vroni Effner have traveled 1,800 km from Belgium to participate, a trip they make every year to compete and train.
On Friday, the Amundsen Mid Scandinavian Sled Dog Race 2025 starts – a sled dog race that starts in Strömsund and finishes in Tåsjö.
Bert Kelchdermans and his girlfriend Vroni Effner come from Belgium and have competed with sled dogs for many years. For the past four years, they have participated in the Amundsen Race.
The couple will transport their ten sled dogs approximately 1,800 kilometers from Belgium up to Tåsjöberget, where they live and train for five weeks before the race starts. Bert says that it is worth the long journey as they get the opportunity to ride on snow.
– At home we train on clay and if we’re lucky there’s a little snow, so there’s a big difference if you compare Tåsjö’s trails with those back home in Belgium, he says.
