There is a change in the rules regarding Leptospirosis (Lepto L4 Vaccine) as it is NOT mandatory but it is highly recommended.
In consultation with the WSA, it has been decided that the Lepto L4 vaccination is not mandatory for the WSA World Championship Long Distance during Amundsen Race 2027.
Why the Vaccine Matters and why the WSA recommends this vaccination
Prevents Severe Illness: Leptospirosis can cause kidney failure, liver failure, severe bleeding disorders, and death in dogs.
Protects Humans (Zoonotic Risk): The bacteria pass from infected dogs to people through urine, posing a health risk to your family.
Overview of the required vaccinations
- Mandatory: Vaccinations for all dogs in the race is DHPP
- Distemper
- Hepatitis
- Parvovirus
- Parainfluenza
- Recommended: Leptospirosis (Lepto L4 vaccine)
- Rabies for dogs coming to Sweden (except dogs moving from within Norway to Sweden)
