I spent two days photographing the finish line of a 350km dogsled race in northern Sweden.
By the end, I wasn’t even sure how I felt about it.

This documentary-style video follows my experience photographing the finish of a long-distance dogsled race in northern Sweden.

It’s about fatigue, pressure, responsibility — and the moments that make it all worth it.

I was the only photographer there.
Teams kept arriving.
Sleep was minimal.
Focus had to stay sharp.

Sometimes it’s not about the perfect photo.
It’s about being there when something real happens.

The Incredible Finish of a 350km Dogsled Race Through My Lens

483 views March 8, 2026 19:45

Last weekend I photographed a long-distance dogsled race here in northern Sweden.

From the quiet opening ceremony with candlelight in the church, to the intensity at the checkpoints and finish line, it was a weekend filled with long hours, little sleep, and powerful moments between mushers and their dogs.

In this video I share what it looked like from my perspective — both on the trail and back home while going through the images.

Winter photography, endurance, partnership, and life in the north.

What it’s like to photograph a 350km dogsled race

624 views March 1, 2026 19:45

Deep in the Swedish countryside, where winter still feels wild and untouched, I got to experience something truly special: the Amundsen Sled Dog Race. From the very first moment in Strömsund to the breathtaking finish line in Fjällsikten, I followed the mushers and their incredible dogs with my camera as they took on this challenging journey through Sweden’s frozen wilderness.

Sled dog racing isn’t just a sport - it’s a way of life. It’s about passion, endurance, and the unbreakable bond between human and dog. Standing at the start line, feeling the energy of the dogs, watching them disappear into the vast northern landscape, and capturing it all with my camera and drone… this was an adventure like no other.

In this video, I take you along for the ride - from the intense preparations and the adrenaline-filled start to the strategic checkpoint breaks and the emotional finish. Whether you're a dog lover, an outdoor enthusiast, or just fascinated by life in the far North, I hope this video lets you feel the magic of Sweden’s winter wilderness.

And maybe… just maybe… one day I’ll be standing on my own sled, guiding my own team through these endless snow-covered trails. 🌲🐕✨
